😩🅰🅰🅰🅰🅰🅰!

How often do you feel bored?

In today's world, everyone has a lower attention span because they can be entertained easily and quickly with smartphones.

"I'm bored!" - this can be a common phrase for many language learners 👩‍🎓!

Doing repetitive tasks on your own, reading grammar books and just self-studying.

It is so important to have a real connection to the language, have a connection with an interesting teacher, interesting materials that are personalised to you.

🎉You should feel motivated and excited after each class to learn more.

😁You should feel like you really used the language to connect.

This is one of the main reasons why we learn another language, isn't it?

How do you spice up (make interesting) your language learning?

Heya guys,

So I have recently been doing some grammar work with one of my student Jenny from Hong Kong. She is at a B2 level and we are working on improving her English for her job at the government.

It can be a little tricky to understand where the adverb can go but we got there and with some work she feels really comfortable now.

How do you feel about adverbs?

Don't you think my materials are beautiful 😍 🤣😂?

This is a really interesting and lovely question.

I think when teaching foreign languages to students it is really important to understand that each student has their own learning style.

These styles are visual, auditory and kinaesthetic.

👀A visual student will react well to board work, images, video clips and creating mind maps.

👂An auditory student can simply listen and take in what you are saying as a teacher. These students only need verbal explaination and practising vocabulary through vocal repetition.

Kinaesthetic students need to create movement with their learning, acting out dialogues which have grammar, playing physical games with cards, physically doing matching exercises with paper as well as writing ✍️

The list of how we can help these students goes on.

👩‍🏫‍ But the most interesting thing for the teacher is to know your own style! You will unconsciously teach in your style. I am kinaesthetic and visual so we play games and do lots of visual work in class, however my auditory students can feel left out :(((

So I need to make sure to include listening exercises. When explaining grammar or vocabulary I need to describe and explain not simply draw a silly picture and act it out 😂🤣🤣

💡Language Learning Tips

It can be really difficult trying to learns another language. Perhaps you have problems with motivation, bored of classes or self-studying. Maybe you can't find see any progress in your level. Well the answer could be to try immersive activities!

During my language learning journeys, I have found it vital to practise the language in many different areas of my life. I feel revitalised and energiaed to learn more. I even realise "Wow, I am actually not that bad" 😂

🇪🇸 The first time I was in Spain, I regularly attended a language exchange event in a bar. I met a lot of Spanish and people around the world and my Spanish improved.
Sadly the second time I was in Spain, I was in a very small town/village and knew I had to be proactive.
I joined a rugby team and even created my own language exchange group. We met weekly and I made quite a few friends. The other people were grateful to connect with other language learners.

🇷🇺 In Russia, I have joined dungeons and dragons (I had to learn lots of magic vocabulary😂) and gone to quizes (see 📷). I will hopefully try to get involved in a language exchange or make one!

Obviously I am lucky to live in the country where I am learning the language but there are many Language Exchanges Events or MeetUp applications in big cities and if there isn't...make them!

What do you do to study English outside of class and self-study?

Do you have a language exchange near you?

P.s Our team came third in the Quiz last night :)) and I met the very talented showman Denis Gook too.

Heya guys!

I have been doing a lot of work on Infinitives and Gerunds in class recently.

It is something I love teaching because many people were told by teachers..

"There is no rule"
"You just need to learn it"

😡I hate this response. So where there is no rule I created a workable rule!!

🎥Test yourself quickly in this video

How good are you at knowing if it is "gerund" or "infinitive"

"Handyman" is a person who can do the odd jobs around the house 🏠, They can fix things and do some repairs.

This weekend I went to a friend's house to help him with the veranda of his Sauna.

It was amazing to be outside and do some physical labour again.

Did you know I used to be a blacksmith and helped on building sites between the ages of 15-18.

📍What did you do this weekend?

📍Who do you know which is a handyman?
